Trevy McDonald

Recently in class we had a guest speaker, Trevy McDonald who was a writer/publisher. She came to our class because one of my classmates wondered on publication with books. Ms.McDonald started her college career at the University of Wisconsin, she wanted to become a TV news anchor. When she realized that she did not want to become a tv news anchor, she designed a blueprint for success, she looked at the courses she needed to take in college and made a plan. She stated that in life if you find your self at a point where your career is not what you want it to be you should ask yourself "What can i do right now to make myself more marketable?" And once you answered that question that your career would become something you want it to be.
McDonald has written many books including Nature of a Sistuh, Building Diverse Communities, and Time Will Tell. Slong with writing books Mrs.McDonald also started her own Publishing company. She used her faith in her ability to write, asked God for oppurtunities and stepped out on her own. She stated that if you "Commit to your dream and the needed resources are provided now."

Bishop Eddie Long

Today in class we watch the Commencement of Spring 2004, in which Bishop Eddie Long was the guest speaker. In his speech he encouraged, inspired, and readied the graduates. Some key points that he hit on was that "no one is going to hand you something just because you graduated" he stressed that when you graduate with a degree, thats a step, now you have to keep running to your destiny. He stated that God raised all of of to be a voice and a vision to others. He went on to say that you control your destiny don't let anyone tell you when to stop, dreaming, or being who you are. One of the most important thing that he said was Time is not waiting on you.
